Revenue at Costa coffee has gone “off the boil” over the last few months, and owners of the chain have blamed the poor period on the mild winter weather and less high street customers hitting the shops.

Costa have gone from strength to strength prior to this with the roll out and rapid expansion of their vending machines.  These outlets incur little overhead, but have vastly improve their bottom line.

However the chain saw like-for-like sales climb by just 0.5{06aeb1921e0b802d2bd9c766bc98fb11cc6a46c2b0593ed9c88a0e29cf417a34} for the 11 weeks to 11 February compared to a 3{06aeb1921e0b802d2bd9c766bc98fb11cc6a46c2b0593ed9c88a0e29cf417a34} increase in the longer 50-week period to the same date.  Shares in Whitbread, owner of the coffee retail chain fell 6{06aeb1921e0b802d2bd9c766bc98fb11cc6a46c2b0593ed9c88a0e29cf417a34}.
